Holmesdale Angling and Conservation Society is a friendly Society, originally founded in the 1940`s. At that time our principal fishery Longford Lake (also called Chipstead Lake) was still a working gravel pit, although it has been many years since extraction last took place.
The Society covers a range of angling interests including competition fishing with matches throughout the season. The majority of our members are pleasure and specimen anglers with carp, roach, bream, tench and pike being the target species.
Longford Big Lake – Chipstead Lake
Size: 75 Acre
Location: Chipstead, Kent
The current carp record stands at over 42lb, with bream and tench hitting double figures, and pike well into the mid 20s.
Total number of rods that can be used on this lake is 3, which must be covered by the appropriate number of E.A. rod licenses.
Longford Little Lake – Little Lake
Size: 3 Acre
Location: Chipstead, Kent
Immediately adjacent to the main lake, this is a 3 acre water which is surrounded by mature trees so it is invariably sheltered from the worst of the weather. Fed by the River Darent at one end and discharging into the main lake at the other end, as such the water level remains fairly constant. Depths vary from 3 to 20 feet.
All the main species are present with Carp, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Tench, Bream and Skimmers. Tench and Bream reach over 5lbs, also Carp to 22lbs have been caught in this water. The club stocked the lake with around 75 carp in early 2018 between 5lb and 8lb.
Total number of rods that can be used on this lake is 2, night fishing is allowed, there is a maximum boilie size of 15mm, and a maximum of 1kg of bait per 24 hours limit.
Montreal Park
Size: 2 Acre
Location: Riverhead, Kent
Located off the A25 (Worship Hill and the junction of Witches Lane ) access is through the school.
There is one pond currently open for fishing covering approximately 1.5 acres, which has seen much in the way of re-stocking over recent years. Stocks now includes Crucian Carp, Roach, Rudd, Tench, Skimmers and a good number of small carp which we hope will grow-on. The lower (Island) lake is currently closed for fishing and is used as a stock pond for the club.
Essentially a junior water, who may fish unaccompanied, although its quite common to see senior members enjoying a “fun” day fishing.
Depths may vary between 2 to 8 feet
The E.A. has also supplied 500 small Crucian Carp and 1000 Rudd for restocking the top pond.
No more than 2 rods to be used on Montreal Park.
Juniors under 12’s must be accompanied by a senior member.
The River Eden
Length: 1 Mile
Location: Penshurst, Kent
The club shares this stretch of the River Eden with Edenbridge Angling Society. The stretch of river comes with parking and holds barbel, chub, roach and pike. The river suits the mobile angler, who can adapt to fishing a small river. Please see HACS Rules for specific regulations for fishing this stretch of river. Note: There is no night fishing on this section of river.
